Memorize Monday: 12/23/19

Merry Christmas, Eve, Eve, friends!! I can’t believe we are here. A couple of days before Christmas! But, it’s still Monday, so let’s get to this week’s #memorizeMonday verse!

Admittedly, I’ve been meditating on this passage for a little bit now. If there was ever a passage that I need to have in my back pocket to pull out quickly, it may be this one!

While meditating on it the other day I realized I didn’t really have a good understanding of the word ‘calamity’ – so I did some digging. And when I read the meaning, well it made even more sense to me the reason of needing this verse in my life. Calamity: an event causing great and often sudden damage or distress; a disaster. And for anyone that suffers from anxiety like myself, I’m sure this sounds familiar. An event often sudden, damaging, distress; a disaster. This is my anxiety in a nutshell, really.

But now let’s read the verse from the beginning to end:

“But he (Jesus) said to me (Paul), “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 ESV

His grace is enough. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

On my weakest days, those day that my head is spinning filled with anxious thoughts, I need to be reminded that no weakness is too great to be comforted by the peace of Christ. No worry He can’t handle. It all boils back to His grace. Nothing more. Nothing less.

What’s your calamity? What’s that thing that causes chaos, disaster, and distress in your life? Find contentment that His grace is enough in all circumstance. He has your back sweet friend. For when you are weak, then you are strong.

Dear Lord, I pray that whoever may stumble upon this today may find ease and comfort in knowing that You are truly all we need. The grace given to us from our Heavenly Father through You will always surpass any hurt, weakness, persecution, stress, anxieties – Your grace is truly enough. In your precious name. Amen.
